Entry Sensor

Your Door/Window Sensors

alerts you when a door or window is opened.  The sensor has two parts: a thin magnet and a wider transmitter. The transmitter notices when the magnet moves, triggering an alert if your security system is armed.

You’ll need to place the two parts of the sensor within 2cm of each other (about the width of 2 pinkie fingers). Be sure you align the small dots on the front of each part.

ACTIVATING YOUR SENSORS

The sensors in your Starter Kit have already been paired with your GetSafe Hub, which means they are recognized by the system.  They just need a battery.

To install the battery, press the tab at the bottom of the transmitter with a screwdriver or small coin.  Add a AA battery and close the transmitter.  The small LED light on the transmitter should turn on.

The LED shows your sensor’s current status:  red indicates that the sensor is Open.  If you place the magnet next to the transmitter and align the dots, the LED should turn green to show that the sensor is Closed.

Don’t worry if the LED shows a red light right now. Your system isn’t armed yet, it won’t trigger any alarms.

DOOR SETUP

GetSafe Door Sensor

You’ll place one part of the sensor on the edge of your door, and the other on the door frame. Some doors have thick frames, it’s a good idea to make sure the transmitter and receiver are close enough when attached to the door. You might want to practice placing the sensors on your door before attaching them.

Step 1. Clean the surfaces where you will mount the sensor.   A dirty door means your sensor may not stick.

Step 2. Peel the adhesive tape from the back of the transmitter. Place the transmitter on the doorframe so the dot on the sensor front faces the door itself. Firmly press the transmitter to the doorframe and hold it for 20 seconds.

Step 3. Peel the adhesive tape from the back of the magnet. Place the magnet on the door, within 1-2cm (2 pinkie fingers) of the transmitter. Be sure to align the dots on the front of the magnet and the transmitter.  The LED on the transmitter should turn green if the magnet is well positioned.

Firmly press the magnet to the door and hold it for 20 seconds.

Step 4.  Your sensor is now installed.  When you open the door, the LED on your transmitter LED should turn red.

WINDOW SETUP

You attach a sensor to a window using the same process used for a door.

Step 1. Clean the surfaces where you will mount the sensor.

Step 2. Peel the adhesive tape from the back of the transmitter. Place the transmitter on the window frame so the dot on the sensor front faces the window itself. Firmly press the transmitter to the window frame and hold it for 20 seconds.

Step 3. Peel the adhesive tape from the back of the magnet. Place the magnet on the window, within 1-2cm (2 pinkie fingers) of the transmitter. Be sure to align the dots on the front of the magnet and the transmitter.  The LED on the transmitter should turn green if the magnet is well positioned.

Firmly press the magnet to the door and hold it for 20 seconds.

Step 4.  Your sensor is now installed.  When you open the window, the LED on your transmitter should turn red.

Next step: Add your motion detector to the system.
